What is your name?
Liv Bargman
Where are you from?
Mid Wales. Aka The Marches. AKA Fake Wales (I call it that…). From a small town called Montgomery. There’s a castle and nobody speaks Welsh. Apart from my stepdad.
Where are you living now?
Leyton, East London
How was ‘creativity’ part of your upbringing?
My Nana owned an antique shop called The Little Shop, and she dealt in vintage clothes too. So the attic in the house where I grew up was stocked full of things.
How do you answer, “What do you do for work?”
Illustration! It’s succinct, and easy at dinner parties to satisfy people with that. (Then, I run away!)
Why do you do what you do?
I don’t know. It’s work that you get paid to do and a way of saying who you are – It is just really nice to be able to do that. Also, I’ve done it for so long that I wouldn’t know what else to do now! Ha!
What one piece of advice would you share?
I don’t think I’m wise enough to give a succinct piece of advice. Is that a life lesson? Maybe… Go for a walk and come back to it.
What do the words ‘Forever Applaud’ mean to you?
I imagine outer space and infinite time! What goes on and on and what came before us. A small turtle clapping into infinite space!
Any projects you want to give a should out to?
I’m working on some new things for a group show called “Forest of the Future?” from 2-25 May, Pictorem Gallery, E17.
